Philanthropist, author, and business leader Dr. John H. Binkley Jr. has travelled to some of the remotest, strangest, and most wonderful countries in the world. Here, he discusses his wanderlust and what he’s learned after visiting more than 60 countries.
I’ve always loved to travel, and I’ve been very fortunate that, throughout my life and career, I’ve had so many opportunities to explore different countries and meet so many fascinating people. Through my work with numerous ministries, I’ve travelled through Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and all throughout the United States, and I still haven’t seen everything!
Fishing and golfing are two of the great loves of my life, so when I’m not exploring ancient ruins, I’m either casting a line or on the course (or the links, if I’m in the UK). I’m from Florida originally, so I’m particularly fond of fishing off of the Gulf Coast, and enjoying the fantastic Florida white-sand beaches.
I want to use this blog to help travelers negotiate sometimes difficult international situations as easily as possible. During my Christian missions, I’ve encountered too many trials and logistics problems to count, and I’m sure that my experience can help you, should you plan on going abroad for work or for personal fulfillment.
I hope you’ll join me as I explore and re-explore the world and all its glories. I’ll close with a wonderful quote from Mark Twain’s “Innocents Abroad”: “Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all of one’s lifetime.” That is only too true!
Dr. John H. Binkley Jr. is the author of the book “Character is King: God’s Destination for You.”
