Author, philanthropist, and leadership expert Dr. John H. Binkley Jr. has travelled to over 60 countries on his more than 100 Christian missions.

“The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page.”—St. Augustine of Hippo

“A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions.”—Oliver Wendell Holmes

“Even if you’re on the right track, you’ll get run over if you just sit there.” –Will Rogers

Why do we travel?

We travel to be closer to God.

We travel to be closer to ourselves.

We travel to be closer to humankind.

We travel to learn.

We travel to teach.

We travel to build character.

We travel to build strength.

We travel to experience joy.

We travel to experience love.

We travel to grow.

We travel to heal.

We travel to change.

We travel to discover who we are.

We travel to make the world our home, and make a home of the world.

I truly believe that travel is essential to building character, becoming self-aware, and fulfilling our individual and collective Destinies.

I have been blessed to have been able to visit so many fascinating places. I have been truly enriched, and I credit the many experiences I’ve had abroad for making me the man I am at home.

I sincerely hope that your journeys will give you great personal fulfillment, and that your travels—whether they are to the remotest regions of the world, or to an unfamiliar neighborhood—bring you the same joy, wonderment, and satisfaction that mine have brought me.

Dr. John H. Binkley is an ordained Minister, and author of the book, “Character is King: God’s Destination for You.”
